ESCMID Funded Observerships provide a fantastic opportunity to gain experience and exchange knowledge with colleagues across the fields of Clinical Microbiology (CM) and Infectious Diseases (ID). ESCMID gives out 100 observerships per year, hosted across 123 ESCMID Collaborative Centres (ECCs). Participants of observerships can receive funding of up to 2K EUR (€) to help ensure a smooth observership journey.

Objectives

Funded observerships are designed to facilitate international training and collaboration among Young Scientist Members (YSM) and members from low- or lower-middle-income countries (LMICs) fulfilling the criteria of YSM. This exciting international exchange programme involves experts in the fields of CM and ID. Spanning five days to one month, ESCMID funded observerships enable participants to improve clinical and laboratory practice in their home institutions through a dynamic synergy of shared knowledge and expertise.

Deadlines

50 ESCMID observership calls are usually held twice a year.
