EUCAST news and updates

The following news items have been published in the previous month:
- 18 Mar 2025: RAST methodology updated
Rapid AST directly from positive blood culture bottles (RAST) - several documents were updated.
- the breakpoint table was updated - new information on how to screen for and characterize benzylpenicillin resistance in Streptococcus pneumoniae added.
- files describing the correlation between RAST zone diameters and reference MIC values were updated
- methods document updated
- document describing the detection of specific resistance mechanisms updated
- document proposing how to implement RAST in the clinical laboratory updated.
- 17 Mar 2025: Calibrating zone diameters to MIC-values - 2025 update
EUCAST calibration files in which inhibition zone diameters are calibrated to MIC-values are updated per species yearly.
For 2025, the following are new or have been added
- Cefepime-enmetazobactam vs. Enterobacterales
- Aztreonam-avibactam vs. Enterobacterales
- Enterococcus spp including other species (new) than only E. faecalis and E. faecium
- Streptococcus dysgalactiae - new
- S. pneumoniae and PCG – new data and update flow chart
- 11 Mar 2025: Update of SOP 12
SOP 12: "Process to Submit Disk Content (Potency) Data for Joint CLSI-EUCAST Working Group Review and Approval" was updated to SOP 12.1.
- 06 Mar 2025: Public consultation on breakpoints for Candida auris from the EUCAST AFST subcommittee
